A literary criticism, also called a critical essay, is a general term describing the study, discussion, evaluation, and interpretation of literature.

For criticisms about a specific author's work, search using the author's name and the term criticism. (e.g. Twain and criticism).

Books containing criticisms may cover several authors' works . It is helpful to know biographical information about the author when searching.

Example of book containing criticisms: Mark Twain: A Study of the Short Fiction.

For more information, you may want to check out the English Research Guide which has a tab for Literary Criticism or schedule an appointment with a librarian.
